My Journey With Anxiety
A lot of the time on these short blogs, I discuss what I think is coming, or I give advice about what I think we all should do as a community of creators.
But I want to share a little bit about me on this one. I think it will help.
I have struggled with mad anxiety throughout my life, most notably in my twenties. I'm 33 now, but I seriously battled anxiety from 22 all the way up until about 31 or 32.
Now, this is not to say I don't still experience and manage anxiety, it simply means that when I got into my early thirties, I finally recognized that it was a real issue and I decided to do something about it.
I think that anxiety is a much more common thing than we might think about or realize, especially when it comes to the creative community.
I've talked to a lot of people, many of whom have had a lot of success, that still struggle with anxiety and have for years. I used to think it was all in my head but it is very real, and I really think that we need to all recognize that making our mental health a priority is very, very important.
So I would encourage anyone who might experience these same things to have the courage to talk about them. I strongly suggest that you say no to fear and have the conversation.
Please, don't be afraid to bring it up with others. And if somebody brings it up to you, please have that conversation as well.
If anxiety is something that you do struggle with, absolutely prioritize your mental health first, before you do anything else. It will change your life. I promise you.
